Guayama, PR’s baseball team consisted of 13 – 14 year old teenagers whose team spirit and willingness to give it their all created a dynamic momentum which drove them to success. Kenan’s initial philanthropic efforts consisted of donating his time and resources to this young team and quickly became a three year commitment. In what he would later describe as if a vision were sent to him by God, he decided to take his efforts to the next level and in 2010; he created the Angel Guerrero Foundation.
From its humble origins to its current state, The Foundation aims to improve the quality of life of children, teenagers, and young adults in Puerto Rico. Although the initiative began in the area of sports and recreation, its various endeavors range from the educational (promoting the development of learning skills and abilities), to the economic (assisting with scholarships, financial management skills, grants, etc.) as well as family skills and workshops (helping parents and family members understand their integral role in the development of their child).
In order for such a lofty goals to succeed and the mission come to fruition, Kenan recruited like-minded individuals and committed professionals, who not only serve as role models but also expanded and diversified the vision and mission of the Foundation. Today these individuals serve alongside Kenan as the Foundation’s Board of Directors and are committed to achieve the goals and objectives of that philanthropic vision born of the desire to do good.
